Art-Energy is an art gallery space dedicated to supporting the “flow” of artistic energy within the community at Chico Sports Club. Specifically, it is the long red wall located in the Cafe that comes alive with the work of a different local or regional artist every 4-8 weeks.

In the traditional Chinese culture, ch’i or qi, is often translated to mean “energy flow,” and is considered an active principle forming part of any living thing. This concept can be compared to Western notions of ‘energeia’ or ‘vitalism’, as well as the yogic notion of prana. The Sanskrit term prana means “breath.” Creative expression is, in a sense, the flow of life-force energy, or breath, through a person’s soul.

Thus, Art-Energy provides a “breath of fresh air” for the valued members and guests of Chico Sports Club, while delivering the message that creative expression can be a vital part of health and well-being.

Art-Energy also celebrates the spirit of creativity, and salutes the artists who take the time to create and display their artwork. While artists need not belong to Chico Sports Club to display their work, the majority of the shows are by members and employees.
